Kez Style Picks at The Jamaica Jerk Fest
So about two Sundays ago I attended the Jamaica Jerk Festival in Queens New York and took in some of the Jamaican culture. So what was there to look forward to? There was a whole lot of JERK! I mean you’d be on one side of the park eating some jerk wings and patties and by the time you got around to the other side they’d be a booth with JERK ice-cream . YES! I had jerked ice-cream which I have to admit I can confidently say I won’t be trying again anytime soon. The air was filled with the sounds of Dance hall and Reggae with small hints of Trinbagonian Soca which of course made me start thinking of home.
Anyway with all the endless activities and things to do, I was particularly eager about who was wearing what. I wanted to get a feel of what my Caribbean people were into this summer in New York and what trends would be more dominant among them , and of course my intuitions were right. Caribbean people can’t help but be colourful and they are clearly in love with prints this season. It didn’t matter what the print was really, once it was bright and colourful and unique. Apart from prints many seemed to have preferred the ‘Bohemian Chic’ style as it best reflects the laid back and relaxed nature of the Caribbean .
Here are my KEZ picks of those who I thought looked the most stylish at the event. Which looks do you like best?
