All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better. – Ralph Waldo Emerson
So “Cheers” to my first style post since coming to New York this winter.
Sometimes, I like to think of fashion as being like a character in a movie or tv show. You have the sitcom actors who are consistent in their role, you know them well and can almost predict what they are going to say next. Then, there are the Hollywood starlet actors who are masters at transforming into completely different people for every movie shocking audiences at their drastic transformations ( I blame the Oscars I watched on Sunday for this analogy). The outfit I’m wearing in this Kezstyle post puts me in the category of those who transform for the role. It’s winter, I’m an island girl so I had to learn how to adapt to this weather, fashion included.
Lately I’ve been finding inspiration in New York’s grey hazed graffiti walls , black wrought iron fences and the celebrities of the 90’s like TLC and Aaliyah. Leather is very much a trend right now and I love using it in outfits these days to add accents of hard against other soft textures I may be wearing. In the pictures I am wearing an asymmetric maxi dress with leggings and I have placed a leather biker vest over it, followed be an oversized varsity jacket with leather sleeves to give me some obnoxious volume. I am in love with beanie caps these days , they keep my head warm…lol, but they are such a fashion statement aswell. It took this look from “cool casual” to “hip hop rockstar” mode and I absolutely love it. The boots would not have completed the look the way it did if it were any shorter. Things needed to be a little over done sometimes but at the end of the day it is all about balance.
The pictures were taken with my phone so excuse the quality. Hope you like the outfit! See the pictures below.
